MY HEART WRENCHING STORY
(Tell A Story)

TRAPPED UNDERGROUND
(true story about my son)

I was so shocked to find out that
my SON was unconscious at the
Bottom of a bomb shelter

What happened?

My husband went down that 15 foot
ladder deep into the earth to rescue Ryan

I was on the phone with 911
They said NOT to do anything
till they arrived

Well that wasn’t going to happen
something was terribly wrong with
my son and he needed help now

I was standing at the top
Looking down at Ryan
Who was grey blue (not good)

He was upright and unconscious
His hands were writhing
and I was so helpless

Humanly speaking right?

My HEART was crying out to God
PLEASE don’t let my son die

I had access to the ONLY one
Who could make a difference

My husband realized while he was
carrying Ryan up the ladder to safety
That he was going to pass out

And if he did . . .

He would fall on top of Ryan and
Then he would have no hope of
surviving period

So my husband made the HARDEST
decision ever

To let go and drop my son back into
That Death Trap

This was an emotional nightmare
Yet I was clinging to my God

I had hope
I kept my eyes on Him

Waiting for a miracle
Knowing my God had this

I had been a stay at home mom
I had not missed all those special
Moments with my son

Having your own business, gives
You the greatest rewards

What’s next …

My husbands brother put a
Bandana around his face and
With extension cord in hand

He was going to tie it
around Ryan as fast as
possible

And get out of there

He climbed out quickly as
He too met with that awful
weak faint feeling

My brother in law wasn’t sure
If he got it tied good enough

With great anticipation, the guys pulled
to bring my boy out . . . Yes ! Yes !

He was hoisted up and then . . .
Ryan flipped back down and face
Planted in the dirt

It was NOT secure and my heart failed
to beat as I looked at Ryan still lifeless
and stuck at the bottom of that bomb shelter

My daughter remembered that
The neighbor had a gas

The neighbor didn’t hesitate at all
He put on his gas mask and
made his way quickly down
With extension cord in hand

When he got back topside
Even with a gas mask
He was staggering and weak

HE DID IT !!!

The men all grabbed the extension
Cord and started pulling Ryan
Out of that death pit

I was so happy to see
My boy out of that Hole
That held him captive
For over 20 minutes

He was completely grey
No signs of life
He was already dead

My husband immediately started CPR

At that moment, I realized
How fragile life can be
And it seemed like forever

Waiting and waiting for signs of life . . .

We had a big day
all the family had
Flown in for this special event

My husbands ordination
Into the ministry

It was a high day with ordination
And surprise Family reunion
We lived in Alaska
So it was a long ways

Then a puff of air
Escapes my sons lips
He’s ALIVE

Total joy and happiness
Flooded my heart

I was so thankful
for this amazing MIRACLE

He sits up and then stands
To my utter amazement
How is this possible?

The ambulance arrives now
Ryan climbed INSIDE
They hooked him up to a machine
He checked out okay

Wow !

I treasured EVERY moment with Ryan
More than usual as this was a MIRACLE

I remember waking up at NIGHT
Going downstairs to see
if he was alright

All the time . . .

I took him to his job
And picked him up
I would go INSIDE his
Work and try to find him
Many times

Just had to see him ALIVE

It’s a mom thing
I couldn’t help it
I almost lost him

I bought 50 foot ropes
cause all we had was
An extension cord at
The time

Why didn’t we have rope?
Why did I buy it now?
Who is ever prepared for
Such an EMERGENCY

My business allowed me to do this
Be with my boy all the time I could
I NEEDED this …

Even tho he did not remember ANYTHING
He was always so kind to me for wanting
To SEE him at crazy times while working or
Sleeping

We learned later that . . .

Radon gas cuts off the oxygen to
The brain immediately and dr said
No one survives this

It is a noble gas and does not poison
The body but just kills oxygen to the
Brain and survival is unheard of . . .

I’m thankful to have my SON with me today.
An amazing miracle that gives me pause
to be and do all that I can

and especially appreciate family
and to treasure every moment
capture all those memories in the HEART
